Shaka's Rock is situated on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast, close to Ballito Bay and only 40 km from Durban on a secluded beach with a large tidal pool.

When Shaka, the great Zulu chief built his kraal at kwaDukuza it became his favourite resort and the rock is a promontory over which he is said to have thrown his enemies and to have tested the mettle of his men by daring them to jump to their deaths.

Today the small residential village with its sandy beach is a favourite ski-boat launch site with impressive launchings and beachings

There is a rugged walking trail from Ballito to Shaka's Rock through a hole in the cliff which should only be attempted at low tide.
